Nuklar Alvarado

Testing Kwa Dayon

{Trials and Errors}

First One-Man Show

NUKLAR ALVARADO will have his 1ST one-man show entitled “Testing Kwa Dayon” at The Phinma Gallery of the Negros Museum opening on Thursday, December 16, 2010, 6:30 PM.

National Commission for Culture and Arts is sponsoring this exhibit and this will run until January 2011. This will include more than 15 recent works of Nuklar Alvarado.

“Nuklar”, as called by his fellow artists, started painting real early and is a self-taught artist. He believes that painting is already a part of his being.

The artist admits that it was natural for him to go into the art scene because of his family. Nuklar is the son of the Negrense artist Nune Alvarado and brother to two other painters.

Negros Museum's Christmas Food Sale

Christmas Food Sale at the Negros Museum

The Negros Museum is inviting food stall owners and sellers for the Christmas Food Sale at the museum lobby on December 17 & 18, 2010, Friday and Saturday from 9AM-7PM.

Following the success of the 1ST Negros Museum Christmas Bazaar last November, the museum is partnering with tours specialist Maricar Dabao of Viaje Negrense for yet another bazaar, this time with food as holiday gifts and part of the Noche Buena table.

Local chefs and cooking enthusiasts are also invited to join in the pre-Christmas activity of the museum which also includes a cooking demo by Sandy Solinap. Interested chefs and food establishments are also welcome to put up free-sampling stalls and to give out their flyers.

The organizers are renting out tables for P600 for the 2-day food fair. This is in support of the museum’s holiday fundraisers and also to encourage all balikbayans and Negrenses and their families to go to the museum to see our local museum.

The food fair is also complemented with a Christmas-themed art exhibit by Talisaynon artist Ramon delos Santos and the Kitchen Art Exhibit 2010 of 35 different Negrense artists.

If you are an interested seller, contact 09173000060 for more information. The food sale is open to all.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL FREE CONCERT & JAMMING AT THE NEGROS MUSEUM

The Amnesty International-Negros is inviting all artists, musicians, peace advocates and interested Negrenses to come and join in a FREE concert entitled “ANG ATON DERECHO, ANG SA WALA, ANG SA TO-O!” on December 10, Friday, 6PM at the Negros Museum Lobby.

This concert will also feature an ethnic-acoustical jam with Harry P. and Tribu ni Mali, an Iloilo-based reggae band. Musicians and artists are invited to join in another jam session and performance at the museum.

Amnesty International-Negros is partnering with the Paghili-usa sa Paghidaet Negros, Human Rights Defenders in Negros, Altertrade Foundation, Inc. and The Negros Museum for this event in commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Negros Museum Goal: 2,011 FACEBOOK FRIENDS by Year 2011!

NEGROS MUSEUM Aims to Hit

2011 Friends on Facebook

The Negros Museum is calling out for help. Not to close this time but for all Negrenses and netizens to help them hit 2,011 friends or more before Year 2011 arrives.

Friends of the Negros Museum's Official Facebook account have started from Monday's 900+ followers to 1,100 as of Tuesday December 7, 2010. The museum will give free Museum guided tours and several surprise gifts from the Museum Shop to anyone who can suggest or refer as many contacts as they can to their FB account.

For the past 3 months, the museum had gained hundreds of friends and followers on Facebook, Twitter, Multiply and Blogspot with one common email add: negros_museum96@yahoo.com.

This is a call from the museum to expand their reach to the Negrenses here and abroad specifically because of the popularity of social networking sites as a means of marketing and information dissemination.

The museum's Facebook includes event updates, photos of the happenings at the museum, exhibit openings.

Some have expressed their intention of donating valuable artifacts and some have bought paintings through Facebook.

Due to the lack of funds, the museum does not have its own official website and making use of social networking sites like Facebook to gain more online visibility.

If you are a Negrense, a netizen or both, please add us on Facebook or contact us at 09173007742 or 4334764 for more information.
