WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

1. Play Art for Kids (3-5 years old)
An exciting way of introducing arts to children with a mixture of different disciplines such as movement, music, visual arts, storytelling and a whole lot of play.
April 11-May 6/ 9:00 am-11:00 am (Mondays – Fridays)
Instructor: Edmund Bacia
Workshop Fee: P 2,500



2. Theater for Kids (6 to 8 years old)
Children learn the basics of theater through exercises in acting and stagecraft.  Encourages the child to discover and explore use of his body in expressing himself.  Exercises aimed to develop self confidence and social relations.
April 11-May 6/ 9:00 am-11:00 am (Mondays – Fridays)
Instructor: Ihvonie Sevilleno
Workshop Fee: P 2,500






3. Theater for Tweens (9 to 12 years old)
Provides the environment for participants to explore and express their imagination in acting and design. Exercises in Scene Work cultivate resourcefulness and problem solving skills in the individual.
April 11-May 6 / 1:00 - 4:00pm (Mondays to Fridays)
Instructor: Adam Henoch Riolo
Workshop Fee: P 2,500



4. Theater for Teens (13 to 15 years old)
Participants develop the ability to understand and deal with their emotions through Character Work.  Technical Theater activities encourage expressions through various areas of design and encourage craftsmanship in their output.

5. Digital Photography for Kids and Teens (9 - 16 years old)
This course focuses on developing the participant’s eye for details and a deeper appreciation of looking at the world. Experience photographers make up the resource pool and will be sharing tips and techniques on the different areas of photography.
*Participants allowed to use any kind of digital camera
April 11-May 6/ 9:00 am-12:00 nn (Mondays – Fridays)

6. Basic Drawing/Painting/Terra Cotta (8 - 12 years old)
Ideal for children who have keen interest in visual arts, this workshop provides opportunities for exploration of various visual arts media and focuses in encouraging participant to find his medium and develop his own style of expression.
April 11-May 6/ 1:00 pm-4:00 pm (Mondays – Fridays)

Workshop fees range from PhP1,200 - PhP2,500 per participant for the 15-day module from Mondays to Fridays. All workshops are open to a limited number of students. All interested individuals are strongly encouraged to pre-register/pay at the Negros Museum.

FEB 26TH: 3 SOLO ART EXHIBITS at THE NEGROS MUSEUM

EXHIBITS @ THE NEGROS MUSEUM






February 26th marks the day after the 1986 People Power Revolution and the 1st Day of new-found freedom for the Philippines some 20 years back. In 2011, 3 young artists from Negros will be exhibiting 3 separate solo exhibits on this same day, February 26th – Burog Alvarado, Hilario “Doods” Campos III and Roderick Tijing.









With the 3 exhibits of Alvarado, Campos and Tijing, Negrense artists will again reveal the “Face” (Nawung by Alvarado) of the Invasion (Campos) of the “Dreamscapes 2” (Tijing).

As different as each of their styles, hues and colors, these three artists brought in their recent works to bring to a full circle the face of the new artists in Bacolod and Negros.



The 3 exhibits will open at the 6PM on February 26th at the Museum Lobby, Museum Gallery and the PHINMA Gallery of The Negros Museum. The exhibits will run until March 25, 2011.

Negros Museum's Late Night Performances

at The Negros Museum





The Negros Museum will be the venues of two late night performances KIBON and PORTLINKS in celebration of TANGHAL 5: National University Theater Festival next week, February 15-19, 
2011 hosted by Bacolod City and the Province of Negros Occidental.

TANGHAL is an annual theater festival for university-based theater groups in the Philippines. It is the flagship project of the NCCA National Committee on Dramatic Arts for the National Arts Month celebration every February. This is also brought to you by The Performance Laboratory, University of St. La Salle, West Negros University, and Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod.



The University of St. La Salle’s Maskara Theater Ensemble will be presenting KIBON directed by Adam Riolo at the Museum Lobby, 9PM of February 16. PORTLINKS, a contemporary dance performance will be presented by the DancePull Company and directed by Dwight Rodrigazo. 
PORTLINKS will also be staged at the Museum on February 17 at 9PM.

Tanya Lopez, TANGHAL 5 Festival Director, is inviting all professionals and interested Bacolodnons and Negrenses to experience another side of theater with these intimate late night performances.  Lopez also adds that these performances are both from Negros and proudly present young Negrense theatre artists.



Tickets are at 100pesos and only available at The Negros Museum. KIBON and PORTLINKS are both strictly PG18 because of some adult-related material and parental guidance is advised. Limited seats are available. For more info, please contact 09173007742 or 7085080. #

at the Museum


This coming January 28-29, 2011

The Negros Museum with Jovial Media Events invite you to come, join and visit us in our Bazaar on January 28-29, 2011 from 9am to 7pm at the museum lobby.

The Negros Museum has partnered with Jovial Media Events to organize a Bazaar and etc. to be held every last Friday and last Saturday of the month starting January, 2011.

This is for you if you are......

Selling food, clothes, shoes, clothes, fashion accessories or novelty items.
Promoting a product or a service.
Looking for new finds in gourmet food.

Interested foodies and anyone who want to get their products across are all welcome to set up their stalls.

Space is at P300 per day. This is in support of the museum’s fundraisers and also to encourage everyone, especially the balikbayans, our local residents and students to come and see our local museum.

A training workshop on General Housekeeping will be conducted at 2pm on Jan. 28, 2011 by Ms. Myrna P. Castillo.
